Role overview

The Community Partnerships Officer will help translate WLU's vision into practical collaboration at community level. This role is ideal for someone who can build trust quickly, coordinate stakeholders with care, and keep delivery moving across multiple initiatives.

You will work closely with programme, communications, and operations teams to support relationship building, outreach planning, and follow-through with key partners.

What you will do

  • Map, engage, and maintain relationships with community leaders, local institutions, and strategic grassroots partners.
  • Coordinate meetings, follow-up actions, and partnership touchpoints across WLU programmes.
  • Support the planning and execution of outreach activities, field visits, and partner briefings.
  • Track engagement progress, emerging needs, and risks, then report them clearly to internal teams.
  • Contribute to partnership proposals, concept notes, and relationship management materials where needed.
Minimum requirements

What you should bring

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, public administration, communications, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in partnership management, community mobilisation, or programme coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to organise moving parts, keep records current, and follow through reliably.
  • Comfort working in a mission-driven environment with evolving priorities.

  • Experience working with NGOs, social enterprises, or citizen-led development initiatives.
  • Exposure to community-led health, youth, or housing programmes.
  • Fluency in at least one major Ugandan local language in addition to English.
